WHY?!?!
Because bots are fun and Artificial Intelligence is an interesting subject.
Besides, do you know of any other sites that are quite like this one?
Did this site log my IP address?
See the unique hit count on the nav bar? Yes, and that's precisely what it's
used for. We use IP addresses to keep statistics and see just how many people
actually bother to come to this site each day.
Why did you change everything?
I'm going for simpleness. If you do much work with HTML, you should know the
differences between browsers. I can make a pretty site design that looks nice
in Internet Explorer, but if Firefox doesn't agree with my style then that
site design cannot stay. This design should be compatible with all browsers.
What is that cursor of?
It's a claw of an Ultimate Azulian. Our first bot was named Chaos, who, in Kirsle's
Azulian World story, is an Ultimate Azulian. So the cursor just kind of sticks.
How did you colorize the scrollbars?
I used Cascading StyleSheets to colorize the scrollbars. If you want to see how,
I can't stop you from downloading our CSS. Just don't totally rip them off. At
least retype them. You're more likely to learn when retyping than copying-and-pasting.
I received an e-mail from AICHAOS.COM with an attachment. Did you send this?
Most likely not. If the attachment is executable (i.e. an EXE or BIN), then it was not
sent by us, and you should NOT open it. If the attachment is an image, text document,
or zipped file, then it probably was sent by us and is probably safe. However, if the zip
contains an executable or closed-source file, close the zip immediately and don't execute
anything inside. If we did send that, there will be an e-mail attached giving you sufficient
evidence it was from us and is safe.
How are temporary blocks calculated?
The temporary block equation is:
(number of times blocked)^2 * 15 minutes
So on the first offense, 1 * 1 * 15 = 15 minutes, and then 2 * 2 * 15 = 60 minutes on the second
one, and so-on.
Is Casey based off a Yahoo! Avatar?
Casey's head and jeans/shoes were originally traced from a Yahoo Avatar. The shirt and the
shadows on it were drawn, as well as the arms and hands (later I redrew the arms and hands
because my version sucked; however I didn't trace a Yahoo Avatar for them, I drew them myself).
Where did you pick up Cody's style of drawing at?
Totally from my imagination. First I actually drew a girl, Genesis Ferako. Cody is basicly
the exact same character, minus the long hair and certain body parts.
Why aren't your bots online all the time?
I blame the stupid Internet Service Provider. And the Jabber servers. Jabber still
has a small user base and is a fairly new messenger, and its servers have their share
of offline times. And these cause the entire bot to crash. However, the bots are
programmed to restart when they crash, so (unless there's a serious error) they
shouldn't stay offline for extended periods of time.
Why do your bots repeat everything I say, or keep telling me to "change the subject?"
If you're talking to Ultimate Chaos, or Casey Rive, they may repeat you. It's only because
they are learning from you, and have nothing better to say. But if you talk in a loop (i.e.
"hi", "what's up", "not much", "hi", etc.), you should be able to see some progress in their
learning. Just don't get discouraged. As for the "Let's change the subject.", this is used
only by Ultimate Chaos when he cannot find a good response and doesn't feel like repeating you.
Your bots won't talk to me!
The reasons our bots would ignore somebody is either because that user is blocked,
or the bot is frozen. On MSN, the bot should tell you if you're blocked right away.
On AIM and other messengers, it should send you a SINGLE message explaining that
you're blocked, and send no more. If the bot says nothing about you being blocked,
and yet it won't talk, then most likely it is just frozen.
Your AIM bots keep warning me when I talk to them!
The only reason the AIM bots would behave this way is in the case that you
used a warning against them at one point. It may not have been you personally, but
your screenname had issued a warning (don't let your younger siblings on your
screenname and you won't have this problem).
What language are your bots running on?
Perl. =)
Why do you run so many bots?
Because we have so many ideas. Cody Ferako is generally our static reply testing
bot, who used CML 1.0, CML 2.0, and now Alpha brains. Ultimate Chaos is generally
our "not-so-intelligent" learning robots. Casey Rive is a bot all its own, Casey
is solely our real attempts at A.I. - not chatterbot.
If you were blocked from the bot, you may get a reason that you might not understand. Below are
the most common reasons for being banned, and their descriptions.
Temporary Block: Approximately * minutes remaining.
You were blocked temporarily. This only counts in minutes (so 60 minutes is one hour). You can do
the math to find out how many hours or days until you'll be unblocked. Or, you can just wait a length
of time and check back later.
Permanent Ban (BlackList). Reason: Abusive user.
This means you broke Rules #3, #4, or #5. If you flood or spam the bot, curse it out, try to cyber
or talk dirty, or harass users through our bots, you will be banned for being an "Abusive user."
Permanent Ban (BlackList). Reason: Inviting bots together.
On MSN, if you invite multiple bots (including ours) into a single conversation to "see what happens when
bots chat with eachother," you will be banned for "Inviting bots together."
Permanent Ban (BlackList). Reason: Potential bot.
This may also read "Potential MSN bot." or similar, or the more descriptive version is "Signing a bot on
with your username classifies you as a bot." This is exactly what it means, if you EVER sign a bot
onto your username and talk to ours (yes, away bots are considered bots!) you will be banned permanently.
Permanent Ban (BlackList). Reason: Bot.
This can also be more specific, i.e. "MSN bot." - and this is exactly what it is. If your username is known
to be an MSN bot, or if you used an away bot before ever talking as yourself, you will be banned for being
a bot.
Permanent Ban (BlackList). Reason: Disobeying orders from AiChaos Administrators.
You'll only qualify for this kind of ban if you do something annoying with our bots, but something that isn't
breaking a specific rule. If an AiChaos Administrator asks you to stop, and you refuse, you will be banned
permanently for disobeying. An example of this: if you invite our bots into AIM/AOL chat rooms and abandon them
there, and we ask you to stop, and you continue... you'd be banned for this reason.
Why is Casey Rive offline more than the others?
The reason for this is because Casey isn't like the others. Casey is our big major A.I.
attempt, and the more "human" we want him to be, the longer his programming will take. We expect
to have a second beta of Casey online shortly though.
Why are Koda and Siko offline?
Koda and Siko were originally created as mirrors to AzulianBot, back in the day when AIM's warning
system was weak. Now that warnings are more difficult to issue to our AIM bots, Koda and Siko are
no longer needed. However, if demand on the MSN bots increases, Koda and Siko may return as mirrors
to Cody and Chaos.
